Access to affordable and quality healthcare for low-income families is one of the most pressing issues facing Florida. RISEP’s work shows that Florida consistently ranks near the bottom of states with percent of workers covered, with large disparities for minority groups. Florida’s low-wage and part-time workforce suffer the most, but increasingly middle income families are going without coverage as well.

Paid Sick Leave
Over 3.5 million Florida workers do not have paid sick leave. Only 54% of Florida workers have paid sick leave. Four out of the top five industries in Florida, accounting for 59% of Florida workers, provide no more than 50% of their workers with paid sick days nationally

Immigrant Construction Workers and Safety and Health in South Florida
This report is based on surveys conducted with four hundred construction workers on large construction sites in South Florida in 2006. The survey elicited information on the safety training received, personal protective safety equipment regularly used, and the safety policies and practices of the employers of these workers.
